DIANA Project: Advancing Sustainable Rural Tourism
In 2025, the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage “Silk Road” is achieving significant progress in scientific research and international cooperation. The university actively participates in the DIANA project (Developing Inclusive and Attractive Nature-based Agritourism) within the Erasmus+ CBHE program of the European Union, becoming one of its key coordination centers.
The DIANA project is a major international initiative aimed at developing rural tourism in Central Asia, particularly in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, creating new jobs, and ensuring sustainable economic growth. It contributes not only to improving education quality but also to unlocking the region’s tourism potential.
The project focuses on promoting environmentally friendly, sustainable, and culturally rich tourism models in rural areas. Educational programs are being модернизed based on international best practices, preparing professionals with modern skills and knowledge. Additionally, special attention is given to developing tourism infrastructure and strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Expected outcomes:
establishment of practical platforms for rural tourism development;
modernization of educational programs based on international experience;
introduction of new tourism destinations and services;
expansion of international exchange opportunities for students and faculty.
